AZUSA, Calif. -- Pittsburg State University men's and women's outdoor track & field athletes continued a dominant weekend of performances on the track in California Saturday (Apr. 13), wrapping up action in the 2024 Bryan Clay Invitational.
Both the men's and women's 4x100m relay squads flirted with setting new school records while posting individual event wins. The men's relay of Dakari Charlton, Dre'shaun Sanders, Dapriest Hogans and Xavier Carmichael won their race in 39.96 seconds, while the women's relay of Blakelee Winn, Taniya Looney, Jamiya Morgan and Deandrinique Gaines claimed victory in 44.96.
The men'x 4x400m relay of Woyn Chatman, Bailey Stone, Caden Williams and Sam Tudor also claimed victory Saturday in 3:06.36, posting the second fastest time in school history in narrowly missing the record-breaking mark of 3:06.31. The women's 4x400m relay of Morgan, Kinleigh Hall, Mikah Edwards and Yasmine Johnson placed third overall with a fast time of 3:41.91.
Both men's relays are new No. 1 rankings in NCAA Division II this season.
Additionally, Tudor (46.89) and Williams (47.14) hit new personal bests in the men's open 400 meters Saturday. Tudor's mark is third best in school history while Williams time ranks fourth all-time. Edwards (55.08), Hall (55.28) and Johnson (56.50) also clocked PRs in the women's 400 meters. Edwards & Hall rank fourth and fifth, respectively, on the school's all-time performance chart.
Gaines posted times of 11.77 in the women's 100 meters and 23.74 in the 200 meters, while Looney posted times of 11.73 in the 100m and 24.76 in the 200m. Charlton added times of 10.74 in the men's 100m and 21.22 in the 200m. Carmichael was clocked in 10.78 in the 100m.
Daylin Williams just missed a PR with a time of 13.68 in the men's 110 meter hurdles, while Joel Nyatusah finished in 13.86. Paige Mullen turned in a time of 17:41.40 in the women's 5000 meters.
Siby Yao posted a PR with a best mark of 20 feet, 0.25 inches in the women's long jump, while Auna Childress won the triple jump competition with a seasonal PR of 41-7.75. Kyla Davis won the women's pole vault at 13-10, while Isabelle Peters cleared 13-2.25. Tre Betts registered a PR in the men's triple jump (50-6.75).
Additional races involving Pitt State runners were scheduled late Saturday night.
