Gorillas Compete at UNK Loper Twilight Meet

KEARNEY, Neb. -- Pittsburg State University men's and women's outdoor track & field athletes competed at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Loper Twilight Meet Saturday (May 11) in hopes on improving marks for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships.

Several athletes logged season best performances:  Dakari Charlton in the men's 200m (20.88); Daylin Williams in the men's 110m hurdles (13.54); Jack Haukup in the men's hammer throw (204-7); Mikah Edwards in the women's 400m (53.84); Isabelle Peters in the women's pole vault (14-0.5); Siby Yao in the women's long jump (20-1); and Abby Lasiter in the women's hammer throw (186-8)..

The women's 4x400m relay of Jamiya Morgan, Yasmine Johnson, Kinleigh Hall and Edwards also clocked a season best time of 3:40.77, while the men's 4x100m relay of Braylon Thompson, Dapriest Hogans, Charlton and Xavier Carmichael broke the Pitt State all-time record and clocked Division II's fastest time this season (39.38).

A trio of Pitt State athletes also picked up season best marks at the Lee University Last Chance Meet Saturday at Cleveland, Tenn.:  Jordan Kilonzo in the men's 800m (1:50.06), Mason Strader in the men's 1500m (3:43.18) and Kate Dawson in the women's 1500m (4:22.56). Kilonzo lowered his Pitt State record in the discipline with his effort, while Dawson crushed both the Pitt State and MIAA all-time records in her race.
