AUSTIN, Texas – Three members of the Pittsburg State University softball team -- sophomore outfielder Heather Arnett, graduate infielder Hannah Burnett and senior pitcher Hannah Martin -- garnered College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American® honors today (June 18).
Arnett was named to the first-team Academic All-American® squad. The Pittsburg, Kan., native has a 3.80 grade-point-average while pursuing a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Burnett (Independence, Kan.) has a perfect 4.00 GPA pursuing a master's of business administration (MBA) degree. She was named to the second-team Academic All-American® squad. A third-team honoree, Martin (Moore, Okla.) has a perfect 4.00 GPA as a history major. Martin also earned Academic All-American® in 2023.
Arnett was a consensus first-team All-American after hitting .454 with 73 runs scored, 103 hits and 51 stolen bases. Burnett was a consensus third-team All-American honors after hitting .426 with 71 runs scored, 81 hits, 47 RBI and 32 stolen bases. Martin finished the season with an 8-1 record in 22 appearances with 36 strikeouts.
Pitt State led NCAA Division II in Academic All-American® softball honorees with its three individual selections. Arnett and Burnett become the 10th and 11th all-time Gorillas to garner Academic All-American® accolades. Martin becomes the third Pitt State player to earn Academic All-American® in consecutive seasons.
