OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team began the week with a 3-1 win on the road against Oklahoma City University at Brian Harvey Field Thursday (Sept. 19).
The Gorillas (4-1) struck early with a penalty kick drawn by
Jadyn Newell within the first 20 seconds of the game.
Danae Hobson would convert the penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
Oklahoma City (4-3) responded in the ninth minute with a penalty kick goal from Yami Ponce, her fourth goal of the season for the Stars.
McKenna Robinson picked up her fourth assist of the season in the 31st minute with her corner kick into
River Riley being tapped in over the line for her second goal of the season.
Robinson was not done providing assist with her left-footed cross to
Adriana Delgado who of the bounce poked it in the 46thminute providing the final score of 3-1.
For the game the Gorillas came away with more shots (15-6), shots on goal (6-2) and corner kicks (11-2) than the Stars.
Up next for Pittsburg State is the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) from the SWOSU Soccer Field.
