PITTSBURG -- Israel Hart led five University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball players in double figures as the Bronchos knocked off Pittsburg State University, 84-78, Saturday (Jan. 18) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
UCO (9-8, 3-5 MIAA) snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory over the Gorillas (9-8, 5-3 MIAA).
The Bronchos shot 59.3 percent from the field in the second half to fend off Pitt State down the stretch. UCO led by as many as 12 points, , with 10:55 to play in the game
Jordan Frison paced the Gorillas with 24 points, while
Avery Taggart added 21 thanks to a five-for-eight afternoon from 3-point range. RJ Forney Jr chipped in with 14 points and
Evan Jackson recorded six points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Hart scored a team-best 19 points for UCO, while Jordan Thompson (15), Jacobi Sebock (13), JV Seat (11) and Luke Haasl (10) also scored in double figures.
Pitt State is idle until next Saturday (Jan. 25) when the Gorillas travel to Joplin, Mo., to battle Missouri Southern State University.
