14 Gorillas Earns USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS — Fourteen members of the Pittsburg State University cross country program – seven men and seven women – received All-Academic honors for the 2024 season from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Gorillas men's honorees include: Tyler Atkins, Nathan Hinrichs, Matthew Oglesby, Dylan Sprecker, Mason Strader, Connor Young and Braden Zaner. The Pitt State women's honorees are: Erika Baker, Claire Bruening, Marissa Dick, Phoebe Fletcher, Paige Mullen, Lorna Rae Pierce and Kate Strader.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

Additionally, both the Pitt State men's and women's programs received All-Academic Team distinction. The Gorillas men carry a 3.60 team grade-point-average, while the Pitt State women currently sport a 3.725 team GPA.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
