WICHITA, Kan.. - The Pittsburg State University women's volleyball team swept the Newman University Jets on the road, Friday (Oct. 24) at Fugate Gymnasium.

For the Gorillas (10-11, 3-7 MIAA) the win is the 10th straight in series history against the Jets (2-19, 0-10 MIAA). Pitt State claimed the match with set scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-19. As a team, PSU hit .347 with 45 kills compared to the hosts, Newman hitting .098 with 27 kills.

Leading the charge for Pittsburg State was Vix Vilott with 13.0 points from 11 kills and two service aces. Anna Dean with 10 kills (.474), finished as the other Gorilla to reach double figures for kills. Maddi LaPointe and Dean finished with four total blocks each, with LaPointe finishing with a .571 hitting percentage from nine kills and 14 attempts. Jesa Wallace picked up 28 assists and Josie McCroskey accumulated a match-high 15 digs.

Up next for the Gorillas will be the Lopers of Nebraska - Kearney on Friday (Oct. 31). First serve from John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT).
