Pitt State Women Poised for National Championships

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University women's cross country team is poised to compete at the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships at Kenosha, Wis., Saturday (Nov. 22).
The women's six-kilometer race will start at 10 a.m. (CST) with the men's 10-kilometer race to follow at 11:15 a.m. at Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course.

The NCAA will offer a Live Web Stream as well as Live Results of the meets.

The Pitt State women earned an automatic berth into the national field following the Gorillas' second place finish at the NCAA Division II Central Regional at Joplin, Mo., on Nov. 8.

Pitt State is making its seventh trip to the national championships in eight seasons (2017-19, '22-25) – the 2020 campaign was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic – and the program's 17th all-time berth in the D2 Championships.

The Gorillas, who captured the past four MIAA Championships (2022-25), placed three runners in the top 10 among the regional field to garner All-Region accolades:  junior Paige Mullen (Shawnee, Kan.), 2nd; redshirt sophomore Hannah Gibson (Overland Park, Kan.), 4th; and sophomore Lorna Rae Pierce (Junction City, Kan.), 6th.

Mullen also finished as the individual runner-up at the 2025 MIAA Championships, while Gibson and Pierce placed third and sixth, respectively.

The Pitt State women are ranked No. 13 in the most recent national poll.
