Gorillas Drop Heartbreaker To No. 7 Bronchos

EDMOND, Okla. - Senior middle blocker Anna Dean became the first Gorilla in Pittsburg State University women's volleyball history to finish four matches with 10 or more total blocks in the same season in the rally score era (2001-pres.) on Friday (Nov. 7) against the No. 7 University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos at the Hamilton Field House.

Dean collected 14 total blocks and 11 kills for her second block-kill double-double of the season. Maddi LaPointe finished with 12 kills and six total blocks, Maliyah Johnson accumulated 10 kills and three total blocks and Don'Yah Cosie finished with nine kills (.438) and three total blocks. Josie McCroskey finished with a team-high 25 digs while Jesa Wallace with 26 assists and Abby Carr with 18 split the setting duties.

No. 7 Central Oklahoma (25-3, 11-3 MIAA) picked up the five-set victory over Pittsburg State (11-13, 4-9 MIAA) with set scores of 15-25, 25-16, 25-20, 20-25, 15-6.

Leading the charge for the Bronchos was Lindsey Houran, finishing with 41 assists and 23 digs. Sydney Huck led the match with 18 kills with Lari Migliorino the other Broncho, finishing with doubel figure kill totals with 12. Riley Roberts accumulated a match-high 29 digs followed by Kaitlyn Parrott with 25. Mikiah Perdue led UCO with eight total blocks and finished with nine kills.

Up next for the Gorillas will be the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Lions on Saturday. First serve from Gayle Kaundart Arena is set for 1:00 p.m. (CT).
