Pitt State Ranked No. 6 in Final AFCA Top 25 Poll

WACO, Texas — The Pittsburg State University football team drew the No. 6 ranking in the final NCAA Division II Top 25 poll released by the American Football Coaches Association. Pitt State captured its third MIAA Championship in four seasons in 2025 (2022, 2023, 2025), posting a 10-3 record and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. Two of the Gorillas' three losses came to the nation's No. 1 and No. 2 ranked squads -- a 34-17 season opening road loss to No. 1 Ferris State and a season ending 37-21 road loss to No. 2 Harding in postseason play. Pitt State has been ranked in the top 10 nationally in the season-ending AFCA national poll 17 times since joining NCAA Divison II in 1989, including three of the last four seasons. The Gorillas finished the 2022 and 2023 campaigns ranked No. 5 nationally.
