FORT SMITH, Ark. --
Avery Taggart and
R.J. Forney Jr. combined for 37 points to lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to a 76-71 road win over the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Saturday (Feb. 1).
Taggart scored a game-high 19 points to pace the Gorillas (11-9, 7-4 MIAA) while Forney made six of seven 3-pointers in the contest to finish with 18 points.
Jordan Frison (14) and
Tane Prictor (12) also finished in double figures for Pitt State. Frison added five assists and Taggart posted a team-leading eight rebounds.
The Gorillas shot 57.4 percent from the field in the game, making 27 of 47 attempts. Pitt State shooters knocked down 12 3-pointers and the Gorillas limited UAFS (8-12, 2-9 MIAA) to 40 percent shooting (24-60).
The Gorillas will return to action Thursday (Feb. 6) with a home match-up against Emporia State University.
