Jordan Frison poured in 32 points to lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to an 85-79 victory over Emporia State University Thursday (Feb. 6) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

The Gorillas trailed 54-53 following Parker Day's two free throws for the visiting Hornets with 10:07 to play in the game, but Pitt State outscored ESU, 19-5, over the next five minutes of action to take control.

Pitt State improve to 12-9 overall and 8-4 in the MIAA to keep a foot hold on second place in the conference standings. Â The Hornets dipped to 7-15 overall (4-9 MIAA).

Frison made 13 of 20 shots from the floor and added five of six shooting from the charity stripe in the contest. He finished two points off his career best in points from Jan. 24 when he netted 34 points in a road win over Missouri Southern State University.

Avery Taggart added 16 points and seven rebounds while
R.J. Forney Jr. contributed 13 points.
Evan Jackson chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.
Tane Prictor blocked three shots and snared a game-high nine boards.

Karyiek Dixon paced the Hornets with 29 points. Chris Harris finished with 14 points and seven rebounds in the losing cause.

Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Feb. 8) when the Gorillas host MIAA rival Newman University at 3:30 p.m.
