FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Several Gorillas are peaking at the right time just ahead of the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships. Pittsburg State University indoor track & field athletes broke three school records and more than a dozen athletes recorded either season best or personal best performances Friday (Feb. 21) at the University of Arkansas Qualifier.
In the women's action,
Kate Strader shattered her own school record in the mile run while
Paige Mullen crushed a 32-year-old record in the 3,000 meters. Strader turned in a fast time of 4 minutes, 46.70 seconds in the mile nearly six seconds off her previous best time of 4:52.30 earlier this season. Mullen was clocked in 9:30.22 to eclipse Christie Allen's record time of 9:37.63 from 1993.
Four Gorillas recorded personal or season bests in the women's 400 meters:
Jamiya Morgan (55.46, PB),
Olivia Lowrey (55.55, SB),
Kinleigh Hall (56.06, SB) and
Maddie O'Neill (56.69, PB).
Marissa Dick also registered a personal best time of 4:59.45 in the mile run.
In the pole vault,
Cannon Booker recorded a personal-best clearance of 13 feet, 7.25 inches.
Kyla Davis, currently ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II, cleared 14-1.25 and
Isabelle Peters also cleared 13-7.25.
In the men's action,
Mason Strader returned to the Randal Tylson Track Center, where he became the first Pitt State athlete to run a sub 4:00 mile in 2022 and he lowered his school record time Friday with a sizzling time of 3:58.16. He's ranked No. 2 in Division II this season with the mark.
Daylin Williams also posted a personal-best time of 7.65 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, while
Woyn Chatman (46.99) and
Caden Williams (47.11) each logged personal-best times in the 400 meters.
Nate Watson, who ranks No. 2 in Division II from earlier this season, also crossed the finish line in 46.54 Friday.
Dapriest Hogans logged the second-fastest time in school history in the 200 meters with his 20.99 time.
Dakari Charlton also ran a season-best 21.25 in the discipline.
Travis Sickles registered a personal-best with his 8:25.29 finish in the 3,000 meters.
