No. 7 Tigers Defend Home Court, Defeat No. 5 Gorillas

Box Score HAYS, Kan. – The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team suffered it's first loss of the conference slate on Saturday (Feb. 22) against No. 7 Fort Hays State at Gross Memorial Coliseum, 76-60.
 
For the fifth ranked Gorillas (24-3, 16-1 MIAA), the loss snapped a 15-game winning streak that began on Dec. 20th. Karenna Gerber finished with a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds, going 10-of-16 from the field and converting on a pair of free throws. Hannah Nilges went 4-of-6 from behind the arc for 12 points to lead the bench unit in scoring.
 
Fort Hays State (24-2, 15-2 MIAA) was led by the duo of Oliva Hollenbeck and Katie Wagner DeGarmo with 17 points each.
 
The Gorillas will return home for the final week of the regular season still atop the conference regular season standings, with Washburn (Feb. 26) and Central Missouri (Mar. 1) coming to John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
