KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Senior guard
Grace Pyle was named the MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday (Feb. 3).
Pyle last week averaged 28.0 points, 5.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds a game while shooting .400 from distance as the Gorillas improved to 11-0 in conference action.Â
She delivered her best performance of the season so far against Arkansas-Fort Smith (Feb. 1), with 39 points going 6-of-13 from three and converted on 11 free throws in the overtime win marred by five disqualifications for the Gorillas. Pyle's scoring tally for the game is tied with Sunny York (Feb. 4, 1978 vs. Fort Hays State) for the second most points in a game in program history and just two off tying her record she set last season against Central Oklahoma (Dec. 9, 2023).
This season Pyle is averaging 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game while making 56 three-pointers at .376.
Pyle and the Gorillas will be back in action this week at home against Emporia State (Feb. 6) and Newman (Feb. 8).
