MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University men's indoor track & field team entered Championship Sunday with a sizable lead and the Gorillas slammed the door on the competition early in the day to secure the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships Sunday (Mar. 2) at Hughes Fieldhouse on the Northwest Missouri State University campus.

The Gorillas posted 218.5 points – the highest point total in MIAA Indoor Championships history – to beat MIAA runner-up Northwest Missouri by 99.5 points. The Bearcats finished the meet with 119 points, while third-place Washburn University totaled 84 points.

Pitt State established a new point total record for a third straight year after compiling 208.5 points at the 2023 MIAA Indoor Championships at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg and a record-breaking 212 points at the 2024 MAA Indoor Championships at Topeka last year.
The Gorillas captured seven MIAA titles on the day:Â
Daylin Williams in the 60-meter hurdles (7.81),
Dakari Charlton in the 60 meters (6.68);Â
Dapriest Hogans in the 200 meters (20.82);
Nate Watson in the 400 meters (46.39);Â
Dylan Sprecker in the mile run (4:09.54); the 4x400m relay of Hogans,
Woyn Chatman,
Caden Williams and Watson (3:09.75); and
Tre Betts in the triple jump (51-4.5).

Hogans, who shattered the Pitt State record in the 200m with his winning time, took home MIAA High Point Award honors from the meet by securing 20.5 points.

The Gorillas also registered five MIAA runner-up performances Sunday:Â Hogans in the 60m (6.69); Charlton in the 200m (21.10),;
Caden Williams in the 400m (47.08),;
Caden Uthe in the 800 meters (1:50.98); and
Mason Strader in the 3,000 meters (7:58.84). 16).

The Gorillas won their fifth straight MIAA indoor crown and the program's ninth MIAA indoor title in the last 12 years (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025). Overall, this marked Pitt State's 11th MIAA Indoor Championship since joining the conference in 1990.
