Gorillas Conclude Action at ESU, SBU Saturday

EMPORIA, Kan. – Pittsburg State University men's and women's outdoor track & field athletes wrapped up action at the Emporia State University Relays and the SBU Bearcat Invitational Saturday (Mar. 29).

Pitt State athletes secured 12 individual event victories between the two meets Saturday.

At Emporia, the Pitt State women picked up four wins: Kayvon Nubine in the 100-meter hurdles (13.60); Diandrinique Gaines in the 100 meters (11.43); Blakelee Winn in the long jump (19-9.75); and the 400m relay of Isabelle Peters, Winn, Gaines and Kinleigh Hall (45.07).

Nubine recorded the second-best mark in NCAA Division II this season in the hurdles, while Gaines and Winn each rank No. 3 nationally in their respective disciplines.
Kyla Davis (13-8.25), Cannon Booker (13-4.25) and Peters (13-4.25) also placed second, fourth and fifth in the women's pole vault. Davis posted the second-best mark in D2 this season, while Booker and Peters logged top 10 national marks.

The Pitt State men also registered five victories at ESU: Daylin Williams in the 110-meter hurdles (13.67); Nate Watson in the 400 meters (46.39); Dapriest Hogans in the 100 meters (10.14); the 400m relay of Dakari Charlton, A.J. Evans, Hogans and Victor Smith (39.85); and the 1600m relay of Tyrone Jackson, Amir Williams, Braylon Thompson and Watson (3:14.19).

Hogans and Williams each logged the fastest time in D2 this season with their victories; and the 400m relay also secured the nation's top time to date this season. Watson's 400m time also ranks No. 3 in D2 this spring.

At SBU, Caleb Calvin set a new Pitt State record and secured the top mark in Division II this season with his winning throw of 258 feet, 3 inches in the men's javelin. Maddox Johnson (224-4) and Avery Voysey (210-5) also secured national qualifying marks in the discipline.

Brennan Boord won the men's discus throw with a best mark of 179-9; and Addi Hinterweger won the women's discus throw (143-11). Gracie Riner also earned an NCAA qualifying mark in the women's javelin (147-6).
