Gorillas to Host NCAA Central Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team has been selected to host the 2024-25 NCAA Division II Central Regional March 14, 15 & 17 at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
 
The Gorillas (29-3) earned an automatic berth into the 64-team NCAA Division II National Tournament and the Central Region's No. 1 seed following the squad's 81-73 victory over Fort Hays State University in the 2024-25 MIAA Postseason Tournament Championship Game Sunday (Mar. 9).

Pitt State will make its 14th all-time trip to the NCAA-II Tournament – the program's eighth berth in the last 12 seasons and the fourth appearance under head coach Amanda Davied.
 
Joining the top-seeded Gorillas in the regional field are: No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul (29-2), No. 3 Fort Hays State (27-4), No. 4 Missouri Western (20-9), No. 5 Minnesota State (24-7), No. 6 Southern Nazarene (23-7), No. 7 Southwest Minnesota State (26-4) and No. 8 Harding (25-6).
 
Games will tip off on Friday (Mar. 14) at Noon with Fort Hays State taking on Southern Nazarene. At 2:30 p.m., Concordia-St. Paul will face Southwest Minnesota State. Pittsburg State will open the evening session against Harding at 5 p.m., followed by Missouri Western and Minnesota State at 7:30 p.m.
 
The semifinal games will be played at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday (March 15). The championship game will take place Monday (Mar. 17) at 7 p.m.
 
Pittsburg State has previously hosted NCAA regional play in 1992, 1995 and 2016. The winner of the 2024-25 Central Regional will advance to the Elite Eight at Pittsburgh, Pa., Mar. 24-28.
 
Tickets will go on sale Monday morning at the PSU Ticket Office. Tickets are general admission. Cost is $10 for an adult single-session ticket and $3 for a student single-session ticket.
