FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Pittsburg State University outdoor track & field athletes claimed eight individual event victories at the John McDonnell Invitational Friday (Apr. 25), including
Mason Strader's school record breaking run in the men's 1,500 meters.
Strader won his race in 3 minutes, 40.55 seconds to shatter the former school record time of 3:42.90 by Connar Southard in 2022.
The Pitt State men added four more victories:
Joel Nyatusah in the 110-meter hurdles (13.52),
Brennan Boord in the discus (165-5),
Cole Sample in the shot put (56-5.75) and the 4x400m relay (3:05.06).
Additional men's top performances included
Nate Watson (46.30) and
Dapriest Hogans (46.85) recording personal best times in the 400 meters and
Hunter Jones registering a season best clearance of 16-4.75 in the pole vault.
The Pitt State women picked up victories by
Paige Mullen in the 1,500 meters (4:24.47), the 4x100m relay (44.65) and the 4x400m relay (3:40.28).
Kate Strader (2:07.78) and
Claire Bruening (2:09.28) also recorded perssonal best times in the women's 800 meters; and
Kyla Davis (13-11.75) and
Isabelle Peters (13-11.75) each logged season best efforts in the women's pole vault.
