KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University softball team has earned the No. 2 seed for the upcoming 2025 MIAA Softball Championship.
The No. 21 ranked Gorillas (37-13, 18-6 MIAA) are 16-4 in their final 20 games of the regular season, finishing behind No. 5 Central Oklahoma (43-8, 20-4 MIAA) in the regular season standings.
Pitt State will travel to Hays, Kan., to compete in the 10-team MIAA Championships on the campus of Fort Hays State. The Gorillas advance to the tournament quarterfinals Thursday (May 1) by virtue of their No. 2 seed where Pitt State will meet the winner of a Wednesday (Apr. 30) first-round match-up between No. 7 seed Missouri Western and No. 10 seed Nebraska - Kearney.
Pitt State's Thursday contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CDT) at Fleharty Family Field.
The semifinal games are scheduled for Noon and 2:30 p.m. Friday (May 2), with the championship match-up set for Noon Saturday, May 3.

The 2025 MIAA Softball Championships is a single-elimination tournament with the winner securing the MIAA Championship and an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division II National Tournament.
The Gorillas were ranked No. 5 in the Central Region in the first set of seeded NCAA-II national rankings released Wednesday.
