PITTSBURG — Six Pittsburg State University track & field athletes and one former Gorilla has qualified to compete in the 2025 Toyota USA Track & Field National Championships. The National Championships begin Thursday (July 31) and run through Sunday (Aug. 3) at Eugene, Ore., at historic Hayward Field.
Tre Betts (triple jump, 54-0),
Caleb Calvin (javelin, 258-3),
Dapriest Hogans (100m, 9.95; 200m, 20.11),
Hunter Jones (decathlon, 7639 pts.),
Nate Watson (400m, 45.32) and
Rachel Wilson (high jump, 6-0.75) all qualified for the championships, along with former Pitt State athlete Cordell Tinch in the 110m hurdles (12.87).
Betts, Calvin, Hogans (200m), Jones and Watson all captured national titles in their respective disciplines at the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in May at Pueblo, Colo.
Jones, Calvin and Hogans all will compete on the opening day of the Trials Thursday.
Tinch has the second-fastest time entering the National Championships this year, while Calvin is seeded No. 4 in the men's javelin. The top three finishers in each event will qualify to represent the United States at the World Athletics Championships in September. Reigning world champions are granted automatic byes to the World Championships, allowing for an additional U.S. representative in those events.
