Pitt State Squads Picked 1st, 2nd In MIAA Polls

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University women's cross country team was tabbed as preseason favorites in the 2025 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll. The Gorilla men were picked to finish second as announced by the conference office on Friday (Aug. 29).

The Pitt State women have captured six of the last seven MIAA crowns, including the past two. The Gorillas received eight first-place votes and 138 points to be No. 1 in the poll. Rogers State received the other three first-place votes and 124 points to be No. 2. Fort Hays State was tabbed No. 3 with 111 points.

The Pitt State men have claimed two of the last four MIAA championships and were picked No. 2 in the poll with two first-place votes and 111 points. Northwest Missouri, the defending champions, were picked to repeat with 10 first-place votes and 118 points. Coming in at No. 3 in the poll is Nebraska – Kearney with 95 points.

The Gorillas will make their season debut next Thursday (Sept. 4) by traveling to Bolivar, Mo., to take part in the SBU Bearcat Invitational at the Bolivar Municipal Golf Course.
