PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team picked up a four-set victory at home over the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith on Friday (Sept. 26) to begin the conference slate at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Pitt State (7-4, 1-0 MIAA) finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-19.
Vix Vilott and
Maliyah Johnson each finished with 11 kills, with
Don'Yah Cosie the other Gorilla to record 10 or more kills in the match.
Kennedy Behnke led the team with a .667 hitting percentage, finishing with seven kills from nine attempts and one error.
Jesa Wallace (30) and
Abby Carr (20) split the setting duties as
Josie McCroskey claimed a match-high 24 digs. Cosie finished as the team leader with six total blocks.
Up next for the Gorillas will be the No. 2 University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Saturday (Sept. 27) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court, first serve is set for 2:00 p.m. (CT).
