Jaylen Fuksa earned MIAA Athlete of the Week honors Monday (Sept. 29). Chandler was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week and Fuksa was selected Special Teams Player of the Week.

Chandler rushed for a career best 169 yards and two touchdowns to help power No. 18 ranked Pittsburg State to a 42-29 road win over Emporia State University Saturday (Sept. 27) at Welch Stadium. The Cleburne, Texas native scored on a 68-yard burst on the second play from scrimmage to stake the Gorillas to an early 7-0 lead and he added a seven-yard third quarter scoring jaunt. As a team, Pitt State piled up a season best 388 rushing yards on 49 carries on the afternoon, the highest single-game rushing output of the season by an MIAA squad.
Fuksa returned three kickoffs for a 41.7 yard average to play a key role on special teams in the game. The Frisco, Texas native popped a 57-yard return and a 43-yard return among his key plays. Fuksa currently leads the MIAA in kickoff return average (24.3 ypr) on the season.
