NEW ORLEANS -- The Pittsburg State University women's indoor track & field team is ranked No. 1 in the first NCAA Division II National Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) released Tuesday (Jan. 27) while the Gorillas men's indoor track & field team is ranked No. 2 nationally.
The Pitt State women are ranked No. 1 with Grand Valley State, Minnesota State, Adams State and West Texas A&M rounding out the top five programs. Wingate drew the men's No. 1 ranking, followed by the Gorillas, Grand Valley State, Minnesota State and Adams State. Both the Pitt State women and men are defending NCAA Division II National Champions from the 2024-25 season.
The Pitt State women currently have eight national top five marks in Division II, including
Rachel Wilson's D2 leading mark in the high jump (5-10.5) and a pair of No. 2 national marks from
Isabelle Peters in the pole vault (13-9.75) and the 4x400m relay (3:45.03).
The Pitt State men currently sport six top five national marks, including No. 2 rankings by the 4x400m relay (3:08.95) and
Drew Wilhite in the heptathlon (5182 pts).
The Gorillas return to action this Saturday (Jan. 31) by hosting the Pittsburg State University Invitational.
