PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University softball team picked up wins 14 and 15 on the season to complete the first day of the MIAA/GLVC Crossover on Saturday (Feb. 21) at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.
For the Gorillas (15-0), game one of the doubleheader against the University of Missouri - St. Louis (4-9) ended in five innings, 23-0. The 23 runs scored by the Gorillas are tied for the second most runs scored in a game in program history. As a team, PSU collected 11 hits, five of which were for extra bases and stole two bags.Â

Ava Laurent (5-0) struck out six Tritons in 3.0 innings with
Erica Schertz throwing the final 2.0 for Pittsburg State.
Lexi Davis finished with five RBI and was one of eight members of the team to score more than once in the game.
Heather Arnett,
Alleyna Rushing and
Taylor Lundien all finished with four runs scored in the game.Â
Game two would see the Gorillas utilize a three-run sixth inning to claim a 4-3 win over UMSL. Davis played hero with her first career home run as a Gorilla in the sixth inning.
Emma Crabb (5-0) picked up the win in the circle with two strikeouts in 2.0 innings of relief for
Sailor Hall who struck out three in 5.0 innings of work.
Up next for Pittsburg State will be the No. 24 Bearcats of McKendree University on Sunday (Feb. 22). First pitch of a twinbill against McK is set for Noon at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.
