KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its second standings update for the 2025-26 Commissioner's Cup, presented by Impact. The Pittsburg State University Gorillas lead the group of 14 NCAA Division II institutions following the completion of the 2025-26 winter sports seasons.
The MIAA Commissioner's Cup, presented by
Impact, is the Association's all-sports trophy awarded to the league's top-performing university at the end of each academic year. The Commissioner's Cup point system reflects each team's finish in MIAA-only competition. The number of points awarded per sport is based on the number of schools that participate in that particular sport. Each institution's point total is then divided by the number of athletic programs it sponsors, yielding an overall average finish for the school.
Five new MIAA champions have been crowned since the last 2025-26 Commissioner's Cup standings updatePittsburg. State collected three MIAA titles in the fall and added two more this winter with the Gorillas sweeping the men's and women's MIAA indoor track and field championships. The Gorillas lead the standings with a scoring average of 12.22 points per sport.
Washburn jumped one spot in the standings to second place with 11.09 points per sport. Northwest Missouri dropped from second to third with a 10.5 scoring average, and Central Missouri jumped six spots from the fall standings to now rank fourth with 9.4 points per sport. Fort Hays State currently ranks fifth with 8.5 points per sport. The Tigers are followed closely by Nebraska Kearney in sixth with 8.23 points per sport.
