Arnett Named MIAA Hitter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - For the fourth time in her career and first time this season, senior infielder Heather Arnett was announced as the MIAA Hitter of the Week following a record setting sweep against Minnesota State - Moorhead on Sunday.

Arnett, became the MIAA career hits leader with a single in the first inning of the opening game against the Dragons (Mar. 8). For the weekend the Pittsburg, Kan., native went 5-of-7 with a pair of doubles, scoring four runs while driving in a pair. This season she is hitting .589 with 53 hits, 40 runs scored, 23 stolen bases and 19 RBI. For her career, Arnett is currently hitting .464 with 313 hits, 213 runs scored, 140 stolen bases and 94 RBI. 

Among Division II ranks this season, Arnett leads the division in hits, runs scored and runs per game (1.74) while being fourth in batting average and stolen bases, sixth in total bases (66) and seventh in triples (4).

Pittsburg State will be back in action this weekend as hosts of the MIAA/NSIC Conference Challenge against the University of Sioux Falls (Mar. 13) and St. Cloud State University (Mar. 14) at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.
