PITTSBURG - Senior infielder
Heather Arnett tied a Division II record for consecutive games with a hit on Tuesday (Apr. 7) in the Gorillas run rule victories over the Drury University Panthers at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.
Arnett has now recorded at least one hit in 41 consecutive games dating back to May 8, 2025 to tie the record set by Katelyn Lovato at Adams State (Mar. 6, 2010 - Feb. 12, 2011).
Pittsburg State as a team picked up wins 36 and 37 on the season to improve to 37-2 with a pair of 12-4 run rule victories over Drury (15-22).
In game one, the Gorillas got three hit performances from
Haili Igou and
Trista Peterson to lead the offense. Peterson finished the game with three RBI and three runs scored while recording her career triple. Igou drove in two and scored twice to be one of four Gorillas to score multiple times in the game.
Sailor Hall (6-0) picked up the win with 4.2 innings of work as
Emma Crabb picked up a save with a strikeout to end the fifth in what was then a 6-4 game.
Game two would see the Gorillas score eight runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth before the Panthers responded with a four run fifth to extend the game. Bailey Haslehorst induced the run rule win with a two run home run in the sixth for her second home run of the season. Haselhorst led the team with five runs driven in on the game, going 2-of-4. Igou finished 1-of-1 with a trio of walks and scored a team-high three times.
Alleyna Rushing finished 3-of-4 with a pair of runs driven in, as Arnett went 2-of-4 with two runs scored.
Lexi Franklin (11-0) struck out five in 4.0 innings as
Erica Schertz pitched the final 2.0 of the game.
Up next for Pittsburg State will be the final road weekend of the regular season. First up will be the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats on Friday (Apr. 10) at the Bearcat Softball Field beginning at 2:00 p.m. (CDT). To end the weekend on Saturday (Apr. 11), the Missouri Western State University Griffons will host the Gorillas at the Griffon Softball Field, beginning at Noon.
