Pittsburg State University Athletics

General: Fourth-year player… one of the premiere defensive ends in NCAA Division II… a returning All-American who is primed for a big senior season… voted a PSU team capatain for a second consecutive season by his peers (2011-12).

In 2011: Started all 14 games for the Gorillas… recorded 57 tackles (29 solo) with a team-leading 19.0 tackles-for-loss and 11.0 quarterback sacks… also forced four fumbles and registered five pass breakups… earned first-team All-MIAA honors and honorable mention All-America accolades from the Don Hansen Football Committee… made a career-high 10 tackles with 3.5 TFLs in the NCAA-II semifinals vs. Delta State (Dec. 10)… recorded 4.0 TFLs and 3.0 QB sacks vs. Missouri Southern (Nov. 12)… made six tackles, 2.5 TFLs and 2.0 QB sacks and forced a fumble vs. Missouri Western (Sept. 1), earning MIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors.

In 2010: Started 10 of 11 games played… recorded 26 tackles (13 solo), 2.5 sacks and 5.5 TFL… garnered honorable mention All-MIAA honors… registered a season-high five tackles vs. Missouri Southern (Oct. 2).

In 2009: Saw action in seven games with one start as a true freshman… missed four games due to injury… recorded 11 tackles (one solo) with 1.5 TFLs and 0.5 QB sack.

In High School: A Missouri Class 5A All-State performer at defensive end as a senior at Blue Springs High School in 2008… an All-Suburban 7 Conference performer at both defensive end and tight end… scored three rushing TDs as a fullback and caught four passes for 29 yards and one TD at tight end helped BSHS to a 9-2 record a state sectional appearance his senior season.

Personal: Born August 29, 1990… son of Leonardo Cano and Maria Toca… married to the former Jordan Fox… a marketing major.
