PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Due to storms in Nebraska, the Pittsburg State softball team has had to alter its weekend schedule. The Gorillas will play Fort Hays State in Hays on Saturday, April 13, as scheduled, but the games against Nebraska-Kearney scheduled for Friday afternoon, have now been moved to Sunday afternoon at Noon and 2 p.m.

Fort Hays State currently leads the MIAA with a 33-5 overall record and a 13-1 record in league play. The team is on an 11-game win streak and are currently No. 14 in the latest NFCA Coaches Poll. FHSU has a .300 team batting average and a 1.43 ERA.

The Tigers are led both offensively and in the pitching circle by senior Maddie Holub who has a .432 batting average and a 0.71 ERA. Three additional Tigers hit over .300 on the season, including Amanda Vaupel with a .415 batting average.

Nebraska-Kearney is 7-21 on the season and 2-10 in the MIAA. They are tied with LIncoln for 13th in the league standings. The Lopers hit .237 as a team and have a 4.33 ERA.

The Lopers are led offensively by Mallory Noakes with a .276 batting average. Katie Ruwe has a .250 average, but leads the team in doubles with seven and RBI with 16. Makenzie Ault leads the team in runs scored with 13 and stolen bases with 12.

The Lopers pitching staff consists of five pitchers who have each made eight to 12 appearances on the season. Brittnie Kreiser has the lowest ERA and 3.42 and has thrown the most innings with 55.1. Becky Dunn has the most deicisions on the season with a 2-7 record. She also leads the team in strikeouts with 33.

The Gorillas are tied with Missouri Southern for 10th in the MIAA with a 6-10 league record. Pitt State is even overall at 18-18. As a team, the Gorillas hit .291 and have a 3.35 ERA.

Tiffany Brown leads the Gorilla bats with a .355 batting average, 10 doubles and a .629 slugging percentage. Kreslee Ketcham is the team's home run leads with nine on the season. Brenna George and Jordan Bradshaw lead the team in runs scored with 29 a piece. George also leads the team in stolen bases with 14. Katelyn Birchfield is the team's RBI leader with 29. In addition to Brown. Ketcham (.342), Samantha Grove (.342), Birchfield (.325) and Kayla Sears (.317) are all hitting over .300 for the season, as is freshman Catie Cummins (.367) who has only recently been seeing more time on the field for the Gorillas.

Pitt State's young pitching staff ahs a 3.41 ERA and holds opponents to a .261 batting average, with some high-scoring games last weekend affecting both numbers. Kyndel Shelburn leads the group with a 2.68 ERA and a 6-6 record in 18 apperances. She has pitched three shutouts on the season with two saves. in a team-leading 96.2 innings, she has struck out 115 batters, while walking only 32.
