PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State softball team is prepped for its final weekend of the regular season, as the Gorillas hope to play their way into the MIAA Tournament with their final four games of the season. The schedule has been altered somewhat, however, due to forecasted rain on Friday. Friday's games against Southwest Baptist have moved from Friday (April 26) evening at 5 and 7 p.m. to Sunday (April 28) at Noon and 2 p.m.

Saturday will be Senior Day. Seniors Kreslee Ketcham, Katelyn Birchfield and Kayla Sears, along with their parents, will be honored between games of the doubleheader.

Central Missouri is 23-19 overall and 13-11 in MIAA play. The Jennies are tied for seventh in the league with Truman. The team has won five of its last six games. The Jennies hit .295 as a team and have a 3.31 team ERA. 

Southwest Baptist is 4-42 overall and 0-22 in MIAA play. The Bearcats have a .186 batting average and a 7.40 ERA. 

Pitt State is 24-20 overall and 12-12 in the league. The Gorillas currently sit in ninth in the conference standings. The outcome of this weekend's games will determine if the team finishes in the top eight and earned a trip to Overland Park for the MIAA Tournament last week.

Pitt State has a .286 team batting average and a 3.26 ERA. Six Pitt State players are hitting over .300 on the season, led by Tiffany Brown with a .352 average. She leads the team with a .620 slugging percentage and 11 doubles. Kreslee Ketcham is just below Brown with a .348 batting average. She leads the team with 10 home runs. Katelyn Birchfield is the RBI leader with 38. Brenna George leads in runs scored with 40 and stolen bases with 19.

Kyndel Shelburn leads the Pitt State pitchers with a 2.49 ERA and a .197 opponent batting average. She has a 9-8 record with two saves and three shutouts in 23 appearances. In 129.1 innings, she has struyck out 155 batters and walked only 55. Kylie Harpst, Samantha Grove and Haleigh Sills have all pitched around 50 innings on the season. Harpst has a 4-3 record with a shut out. Grove has a 6-3 record with a save and a shut out. Sills is 4-5.
