OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Pitt State softball team lost its first round game in the MIAA Tournament, 8-0 in five innings, to Fort Hays State on Friday (May 2). The second game of the tournament has been postponed until Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Gorillas will take on Truman in its second round game. The Bulldogs lost their first round game to Missouri Western, 5-3.

Pitt State did not have any hits in the game, but had four walks. The Tigers scored their four runs off 10 hits and two Pitt State errors.

The Tigers scored in every inning, two runs in the first, one in each the second, third and fifth innings and three in the fourth.

Maddie Holub earned the win for Fort Hays State to improve to 25-1 on the season. She struck out five Pitt State batters. Kyndel Shelburn took the loss for the Gorillas to move to 12-9. She pitched 3.2 innings, giving up four runs on six hits. She walked two batters and struck out two. Kylie Harpst pitched the final 1.2 innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on four hits. She also gave up one walk.
