PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State softball team travels to Claremore Okla. to take on Rogers State on Tuesday (Feb. 25) in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

The Hillcats are 2-7 on the season after player two tournaments in Texas the last two weekends. The team earned wins over Central Oklahoma, 6-3, and Southern Arkansas, 5-3.

Two players hit over .300 for the Hillcats, led by Jamie Kowalick and Yolanda Rios each with .333 averages. Kowalick and Carley Conley each have eight hits on the seaosn, while Candace Monigold and Rios each have seven. Rios and Jackie Flores lead the team with four RBI a piece.

Rios has pitched the most innings for Rogers State. She has a 5.18 ERA and a 2-5 record in 41.2 innings pitched. She has struck out 19 batters and walked 25. Brooklyne Harbert has an 0-2 record and a 6.75 ERA in 16.0 innings.

Pitt State is 5-3 on the season after most recently splitting a doubleheader with Arkansas Tech. 

The Gorillas hit .252 as a team, while the pitching staff has a 3.50 ERA. The team has a .966 fielding percentage, having committed nine errors on the season.

Four different players hit above .300 for the Gorillas, led by Tifffany Brown with a .409 average. Jordan Bradshaw and Nicole Nease each hit  .333, while McKenzie Rynard hits at a .313 clip. Brown leads the team with nine hits, 10 runs scored, five home runs and 13 RBI. Rynard leads the team in doubles with three.

The Gorillas have used four different pitchers this season. Sam Grove leads the team with a 3-0 reord and a 1.38 ERA in 25.1 innings. Haleigh Sills has a 1-2 record and a 4.96 ERA. She leads the pitching staff with 12 strikeouts. Kylie Harpst has thrown 10.1 innings and has a 1-1 record. Tiffany Brown has thrown two innings.
