PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pitt State softball team will host a midweek non-conference doubleheader against Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday, March 26 at 2 and 4 p.m. at the PSU Softball Complex.
The Tritons come into the game with an 18-2 record, their only losses to Division I Southeast Missouri and then No. 1 Central Oklahoma.
Eight different players come into the game with batting averages over .300, led by Katie Wood with a .417 average. Three different players have 20 or more RBI on the season with Alex Stupek leading with 21 RBI. Jena Boudreau leads the team with 18 runs scored. The Tritons have hit 40 doubles, one triple and 25 home runs on the season.
The UMSL pitchers have a 1.47 ERA. Hannah Perryman leads the team with a 0.71 ERA and a 7-2 record. Brittni Chapman is 9-0 with a 1.96 ERA. Perryman has struck out 123 batters in 69.1 innings pitched.
The Gorillas are 15-12 overall after going 2-4 last weekend at the Missouri Western Invitational. The Gorillas .318 as a team. They have hit 35 doubles, six triples and 35 home runs on the season.
Pitt State is led by Tiffany Brown and McKenzie Rynard who are both hitting over .400 for the season. Brown leads with a .463 batting average, 33 runs scored, 16 home runs and 44 RBI. Rynard hits .441 a team-leading eight doubles and adds 27 RBI. Brenna George is just under .400 with a .388 batting average. She is second on the team in runs scored with 30.
The Pitt State pitchers have a 3.32 ERA as a group. Sam Grove has pitched the majority of the innings and earned a 2.31 ERA and an 8-4 record in 85.0 innings pitched. Haleigh Sills and Kylie Harpst shared the remainder of the innings, each has just over a 4.00 ERA. Sills is 4-4 on the season in 56.1 innings. Harpst has a 3-3 records in 30.2 innings. Sills leads the team in strikeouts with 36.
