PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State Softball team will finish the home portion of its season this week with doubleheaders against Newman on Tuesday (April 15) and Drury on Wednesday (April 16).

Tuesday's games are at 2 and 4 p.m. and Wednesday's are at 3 and 5 p.m., all at the PSU Softball Complex. 

Newman is 15-22 overall and and 2-6 in its last eight games. Most recently the team won two of three games against Rogers State. The Jets hit .297 as a team, while allowing opponents a .318 batting average. The pitchers have a 4.93 ERA.

Drury is 12-28 on the season and 4-4 in its last eight games. The team split a doubleheader with McKendree on Saturday, winning the first game 9-2, before falling 6-2 in game two. The Panthers hit .235 and have .946 team fielding percentage. The team has a 4.62 ERA and allows opponents a .317 batting average.

The Gorillas are 23-23 on the season. The team won five out of eight games it played last week, including four of six conference games. The team set a new school record for home runs in a season in Saturday's first game and now has 60 home runs. The team hits .319, while allowing opponents a .289 average. The Gorillas score an average of just over six runs a game. The team has a .949 fielding percentage. The Pitt State pitchers have a 3.58 ERA.

Pitt State has five players hitting .300 or better, including two, Tiffany Brown and McKenzie Rynard, hitting over .400. Brown leads the team with 53 runs scored, 65 RBI and 23 home runs. She has a .431 batting average and a .951 slugging percentage. Brown has already set the school single season and career home runs records and is just nine RBI from the career record in that category as well. Rynard has a .415 average with 14 home runs and nine doubles on the season. Brenna George hits .373 on the season and leads the team in hits with 63 and stolen bases with 13. She has the school's career stolen base record. She is record on the team in runs scored with 49. Cheslyn Mitchell hits .338 and leads the team in doubles with 10.
