Softball Alters Weekend Schedule

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Due to projected rain early in the day on Friday, the Pittsburg State softball games at Lindenwood on Friday (April 3) have been pushed back to 5 and 7 p.m. Times for Saturday's games at Lincoln in Jefferson City, Mo. have also been delayed slightly to 2 and 4 p.m. to accomodate the Gorillas late evening on Friday.

Lindenwood is 6-30 overall and 1-15 in MIAA play. The Lions' one conferene win was a 7-5 win in the second game of a doubleheader with Washburn on March 7. Lindenwood hits .260 as a team and has a 7.34 team ERA.

Lincoln is 3-27 overall and 2-14 in MIAA play. The team's two conference wins were a 7-5 win over Central Oklahoma on March 14 and a 8-7 win over Nebraska-Kearney on March 21. The Blue Tigers hit .233 as a team and have a 10.16 team ERA.

Pitt State is 20-10 overall and 9-1 in MIAA play. The team's one conference loss was to then No. 11 Emporia State. The Gorillas and Lady Hornets are currently tied for first in the league standings. Six of the Gorillas 10 losses on the season have been to ranked teams. 

The Gorillas have a .315 team batting average and seven players hitting .300 or better on the season. The team ranks second in the MIAA for slugging percentage (.521), runs (198), RBI (178), home runs (40), walks (86) and sac flies (nine). The Gorillas have at least two players ranked in the top 15 of nearly MIAA statistical category. 

Cheslyn Mitchell leads the Gorillas with a .406 batting average, 32 runs, 41 hits, nine doubles and two triples. She has only struck out 10 times in 101 at bats on the season and has not recorded a strikeout in eight games. Kylie Guthier is second on the team with a .352 batting average. She leads the team in RBI with 36and is second in home runs with seven. McKenzie Rynard has a .350 batting average and leads the team with a .663 slugging percentage and 15 walks, despite having missed the last few games. Nicole Nease hit hitting .340 on the season and leads the Gorillas with eight home runs. Ashton Pratt (.317), Devon McCreath (.310) and Jordan Bradshaw (.300) are the remaining batters hitting .300 or better in the first half of the season. Pratt leads the team in stolen bases, having successfully swiped 12 of 13 bases on the season.

The Pitt State pitchers have a 3.02 team ERA. Theier 178 strikeouts on the season are second in the MIAA and they are tied for the league lead in strikeouts looking with 54. Emmie Robertson leads the team with a 2.25 ERA and a 13-5 record. In 109.0 innings, she has struck out 109 batters and walked 35. She holds opponents to a .214 batting average. Zoe Price has a 7-4 record and a 3.16 ERA. in 73.0 innings she has struck out 64 batters, while walking only 18.
