PITTSBURG – The Pitt State softball team will take the field again this weekend after a long drive north to play in the NSIC/MIAA Crossover Dome Tournament in Rochester, Minn. Live stats will be available for each game of the tournament

The Gorillas will play four games in the three-day tournament, beginning with Upper Iowa at 11 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 19), followed by host Winona State at 5 p.m. Saturday Pitt State will take on Northern State at 9 a.m. and close out the tournament with Winona State at 1 p.m.
Upper Iowa started the season last weekend in Bentonville, Ark. and went 3-1, including a 10-0, five-inning win over the Gorillas. They also earned wins over Southwest Baptist, 5-4 in eight innings, and Illinois-Springfield, 3-1. The team's one loss was a 7-4 decision to Northwest Missouri. The Peacocks hit .323 as a team and have a 2.07 team ERA.
Winona State is 2-0 on the new season after a doubleheader sweep of Grand View on Tuesday. The Warriors hit .333 as a team and have a 2.92 ERA.Â
Northern State will be playing its first games of the season.Â
Pitt State is 7-2. The team went 5-0 in the opening weekend of play and was 2-2 last weekend in Bentonville with losses to Upper Iowa and Southern Nazarene. The Gorillas are hitting .233 as a team with four players hitting .300 or better. Tiara Ewy has a .500 average, but has only played in two games. Alex Perez has a .455 average and leads the team with eight RBI. Sierra Hall is hitting .400 with five at bats on the young season. Katy Remy is hitting .300 and leads the team with nine runs scored. Perez and Nicole Nease have each hit three doubles. six different players have hit a home run a piece in the first nine games. Ashton Pratt leads the team in walks with five and is a perfect 6-gor-6 stealing bases.
The Pitt State hurlers have a collective 2.64 ERA. Emmie Robertson leads the group with a 1.76 ERA and a 5-1 record with two shut outs. In 39.2 innings, she has struck out 54 batters while walking only eight. She is holding opponents to a .151 batting average and of the 21 hits she has given up, only two have been for extra bases. Morgan Myers has a 3.89 ERA and a 2-1 record, including one shut out. She has thrown 18 innings and struck out 12 batters. Lynsey Conner also saw 3.1 innings in relief last weekend.
