PITTSBURG, Kan. – Following a nine-day hiatus, the Pittsburg State softball team takes the field again Tuesday (March 1) for a road doubleheader at Oklahoma Christian at 2 p.m.
Oklahoma Christian is 7-10 on the season, while the Gorillas are 9-4. The two teams met in the first weekend of the season and the Gorillas came away with a 6-1 win.Â
The Eagles are hitting .304 on the season. Fice players are hitting .300 or better, led by Niki Davidson with a .442 batting average. Davidson and Haley Squier lead the team with 14 RBI a piece, while Jordan Chism is just behind them with 13. The Eagles have a .949 team fielding percentage, while the pitching staff has a 5.06 ERA. Madison leads the pitchers with a 2.70 ERA and a 4-3 record. She has struck out 40 batters and walked 21 in 44.0 innings pitched.Â
Pitt State has a .237 team batting averages. Two players, Alex Perez and Sierra Hall are hitting better than .300 on the season. Hall has a .400 average, while Perez s hitting .355. Perez and Katy Remy lead the Gorillas with 11 hits a piece. Remy also leads the team with 10 runs scored. Remy, Perez and Kylie Guthier share the team lead in RBI with eight a piece. Guthier leads the team with three home runs, while Perez and Catie Cummins have each hit four doubles. Ashton Pratt leads the team in stolen bases with seven in seven attempts.Â
The Pitt State pitchers have a 2.91 team ERA. Emmie Robertson leads the staff with a 7-1 record and a 1.70 ERA. She has fanned 74 batters in 53.2 innings, while walking 13. She is holding opponents to a .153 batting average. Morgan Myers has a 2-3 record and a 4.04 ERA. In 26.0 innings she has struck out 16 batters and walked 11.
