Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
PITTSBURG — The Arkansas Tech University softball team swept a pair of games from Pittsburg State University Wednesday (Mar. 23). The Golden Suns defeated the Gorillas 5-0 and 10-3 at the PSU Softball Complex.

Jalissa Gum (10-0) and Kelsie Barker combined to limit Pitt State (22-9) to two hits in game one. Gum allowed just one hit in five innings of work, walking one batter while recording seven strikeouts.

Emmie Robertson (13-4) surrendered five runs, four earned, in five innings for the Gorillas. ATU touched her for four runs on three hits in the second inning, including Kambri Hill's three-run home run.

Sierra Hall and Jordan Bradshaw collected the Gorillas' two hits in the contest.

In game two, ATU (27-2) broke open a 3-3 game with a two-run fifth inning and the Golden Suns put the game out of reach with five insurance runs in the seventh.

Destiny Crumpley hit a two-run single for the go-ahead runs in the fifth, while Megan Goodnight smacked a grandslam home run as the big hit in the seventh after a pair of Pitt State errors extended the inning.

Kylie Guthier hit her team-leading eighth home run of the season to stake Pitt State to a 1-0 lead. Katy Remy and Nicole Nease also collected RBI in the Gorillas half of the third inning to knot the score at 3-3 after ATU had gone up 3-1 in the top of the frame.

The Gorillas will return to action Friday (Mar. 25) when they play host to MIAA rival Emporia State University in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
