JOPLIN, Mo. — The Missouri Southern State University baseball team broke open a scoreless game wth 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning as the host Lions defeated Pittsburg State University, 16-3, Wednesday (Apr. 26).
MSSU (25-22, 16-15 MIAA) scored 11 runs on seven hits in the pivotal inning against Pitt State (20-24, 14-16 MIAA). The Lions registered 13 hits in the contest and benefited from 10 bases on balls.
Dallas Reed and Hunter Clanin had two hits apiece in the losing effort for the Gorillas.
Pitt State will travel to Hays, Kan., to open a three-game MIAA series against Fort Hays State University Friday.
