PITTSBURG -- The Pitt State softball team (30-10,9-3 MIAA) will host six home games on three days this week at the PSU Softball Complex. The week opens with Central Missouri on Tuesday (April 4) at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., then continues over the weekend with Northwest Missouri on Friday (April 7) at 4 and 6 p.m. and Missouri Western on Saturday (April 8) at 2 and 4 p.m.
Tuesday's games were rescheduled from mid-March and have been moved to earlier in the day due to an increasingly poor weather forecast for late afternoon and evening.
The Central Missouri Jennies are 17-18 overall and 7-3 in MIAAÂ play and are currently fifth in the MIAA standings. Northwest Missouri leads the MIAAÂ with an 8-2 conference record and a 17-11 overall mark. Missouri Western is 26-8 overall and 6-2 in the league to stand fourth in the league race.Â
The Gorillas are 30-10 overall, the first team in the MIAAÂ to hit the 30-win mark this season. The team is tied for second in the league standings with Central Oklahoma at 9-3.Â
Pitt State is hitting .294 as a team with six players hitting .300 or better on the season. Kala Holder leads the Gorillas with .344 batting average, 42 hits and seven doubles. Kris Van Hoosen hits .330. Kaity Kukowski is the team's runs leader with 31. She has a .494 on base percentage, as she has walked a team high 17 times and been hit by 26 pitches. Nicole Nease leads the team in home runs with five and RBI with 28.
The Gorilla pitchers have a 2.04 team ERA. Emmie Robertson anchors the staff with a 20-4 record with three saves. She has a 0.80 ERA and has struck out 193 batters in 156.2 innings pitched. She is holding opponents to a .176 batting average.
