Gorillas Struggle in Emporia

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 EMPORIA, KAN. -- The Pittsburg State University softball team struggles in the second day of the 6-State Classic Sunday (Feb. 18).

The Gorillas fall to Henderson State University, 12-11, before losing to Arkansas Tech University 6-5.

Pitt State (5-11) suffered their third loss of the weekend in the first game of the day in a 12-11 loss to Henderson State. Reddies scored first plating four runs in the first and second inning.  The Gorillas were unable to capitalize late in the game scoring three runs in the seventh inning. 

Kaity Kukowski went 3-for-4 with with two home runs and three RBI's, while Alicia Lowrey went 3-for-4 with one home run. 

In game two, The Gorillas struck first with three runs in the first inning, followed by two runs in the sixth inning. The Golden Suns were behind most of the game until scoring six runs in the fifth and six innings to give them the lead late. 

Pitt State was held to just four hits, leaving nine runners on base. 

Brooklynne Simbeck (3-4) came in to relief pitching, she allowed four runs and three hits in four 1/3 innings of work.
