PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University softball team has added a home doubleheader against the University of Missouri-St. Louis to its schedule for Sunday (Feb. 25). The Gorillas and Tritons will face off in the twinbill starting at 1:30 p.m. (CST) at the PSU Softball Complex.

The Gorillas will bring a 5-11 record into their new home opener. Pitt State lost two games due to weather last weekend, prompting the addition of Sunday's action.

Pitt State is looking to bounce back from an 0-4 weekend at the Emporia State Six States Invitational Feb. 17-18. The Gorillas suffered three one-run losses at the tournament. To date, Pitt State has suffered seven one-run losses as well as two two-run defeats.

For the season, the Gorillas are batting .242 and scoring 3.3 runs per game. Pitt State has a 4.79 team ERA.
Sophomore infielder Kaity Kukowski is the team's leading hitter with a .313 average, while sophomore infielder Kala Holder is batting .304. Holder leads the team in home runs (6), RBIs (11) and walks (9). Kristen Van Hoosen adds a .271 average. She has one double and three home runs.
Sophomore RHP Brittany Beaudet is the team's top pitcher with a 2.20 ERA and nine strikeouts in 16 innings of relief work. In eight appearances, she has two saves. Senior RHP Brooklynee Simbeck has a 3-4 record in 10 appearances. She has thrown 37.0 innings and struck out 14 batters.

UMSL is 3-5 on the season. The Tritons are batting .332 as a team and scoring 5.3 runs per game. UMSL has a 4.98 team ERA.
