Gorillas Split in Day Two of Action

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DURANT, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University softball team split games in the second day of the Southeastern Oklahoma Invitational Saturday (Feb. 3).
The Gorillas lost to Cameron University, 1-0, before coming back to earn a 2-0 win over Newman University.
Pitt State (1-3) will face East Central University at noon Sunday and host team Southeastern Oklahoma State at 2:30 p.m.

The Gorillas suffered their third loss of the weekend in the first game of the day in a 1-0 loss to Cameron. Aggies scored their one run of the game on a home run by Callie Busby in the first inning. The Gorillas were unable to capitalize on their eight hits leaving seven runners on base.

In game two, The Gorillas struck first with a run in the first inning, followed by a solo HR by Kala Holder in the third inning. The Jets were held to just four hits on the game, compared to six by the Gorillas.
Shelby Miller went 2-for-3, while Kala Holder had two RBI's to lead the Pitt State offense.

Brooklynne Simbeck (1-1) captured her first win of the season, allowing no runs and only four hits in seven innings of work.
