Gorillas Split with Griffons Tuesday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. JOSEPH --- The Pittsburg State University softball team split a pair of games with Missouri Western State University on Tuesday (Apr. 17). The Griffons won the first game, 11-4, before the Gorillas rallied back to win, 5-0.

Missouri Western (23-24, 14-8 MIAA) built a 2-0 lead early in game one and added on seven runs in the sixth inning. Pitt State stranded seven base runners in the contest.
 
In the nightcap, Pitt State (19-30, 9-11 MIAA) scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning by a home run from Kristen Van Hoosen. Followed by one run in the fifth and three more runs in the seventh inning.

Bree Cornett pitched her seventh complete game of the season, on a five-hit shutout.  

Pitt State will host Lincoln University for a MIAA twinbill on Wednesday (Apr. 18). The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
