Gorillas Split With Bronchos Sunday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 EDMOND — The Pittsburg State University softball team ended regular season play Sunday (Apr. 22) with a doubleheader split against University of Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos defeated the Gorillas, 5-1, in game one, but the Gorillas bounced back with a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.
 
The Bronchos Jayden Chestnut (16-5) pitched a complete game allowing only three hits in the opener. Pitt State stranded one base runner in the contest.

Pitt State (22-33, 12-14 MIAA) built a 3-0 lead in game two and held Central Oklahoma (29-20, 17-9 MIAA) scoreless to pull out the win.

Chloe Holman paced the Gorillas' 9-hit attack, going 2-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI. Daniela Garzon also belted one RBI sacrifice fly for Pitt State in the contest.

Brooklynne Simbeck (12-16) earned the win. She pitched her fifth complete game of the season, allowing only three hits on the game.
