PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field athletes enjoyed a successful debut to the 2019-20 season Saturday (Dec. 7) at the Crimson & Gold Invitational at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
In the women's action, Haven Lander won the pole vault by clearing 13 feet, 5.75 inches and earning an automatic qualification (AQ) to the 2020 NCAA Indoor National Championships. Kimberly Aubuchon cleared 11-10 to tie for fifth place with a provisional qualifying (PQ) mark and Kinsey Laird placed eighth in the discipline (11-6.25).
Brianna Cooks also turned in a third place effort in the weight throw (PQ, 59-7.75), while Camryn Williams finished seventh (53-10.5). Williams added a sixth place showing in the shot put (42-3.5).
Allary Liberatore placed third in the high jump (5-5), while Megan Eckman finished sixth in the discipline (5-5).
On the track, London Futch finished fourth in the 300 meters in 41.20 seconds. Emerson Tice placed eighth in the 400 meters (1:00.07) and Madison Burt finished ninth in the 600 yard run (1:29.34).
The 4x400m relay of Tice, Futch, Analya Miller and Burt also finished 10
th in 4:05.01.
In the men's action, Levi Wyrick won the weight throw with a PQ throw of 62-6 and he added a fifth-place effort in the shot put (50-0). Konner Swenson picked up a pair of PQ marks, winning the shot put (59-2) and finishing second in the weight throw (61-9). Chase Dalton also placed fourth in the shot put (50-1.75).
Earlier in the day, Trey Mooney wrapped up action in the heptathlon in the Boo Rogers Combined Events. He compiled 5,167 points to secure a PQ mark.
Matt Wilson raced to a 10
th place finish in the 800 meters (1:57.93), while Jared Becker placed 10
th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.47).
