Pitt State to Play Drury, UMSL in Weekend Action


PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University softball team will play a pair of doubleheaders against non-conference opponents this weekend. The Gorillas will take on Drury University Friday (Feb. 22) at Springfield, Mo., and the University of Missouri-St. Louis Sunday (Feb. 24) at a neutral site at St. Charles, Mo.

First pitch for Pitt State's twinbill against Drury is set for 3:30 p.m. (CST) Friday, while Sunday's action against UMSL will get under way at Noon.

The Gorillas are 4-6 on the season. Pitt State is scoring 4.7 runs per game and batting .267 as a team on the young season. Pitt State pitchers have a 3.43 team ERA.

Junior second baseman Kaity Kukowski leads the squad with a .406 batting average. She has two home runs and five RBIs to date. Senior designated player Alicia Lowrey is hitting .367 with six doubles and nine RBIs. Junior righthander Halle Brin has a 2-3 record with one save and a 2.10 ERA in eight appearances on the mound.

Drury will bring a 5-3 record into Friday's twinbill against Pitt State. UMSL has a 3-7 record to date.
