Pitt State to Play MU, MKU in Mid-Week Action

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University softball team will play a pair of doubleheaders against non-conference opponents this week. The Gorillas will take on Maryville University Tuesday (Mar. 12) at St. Louis, Mo., and the McKendree University Wednesday (Mar. 13) at Lebanon, Ill.

First pitch for Pitt State's twinbill against Maryville is set for 3 p.m. (CDT) Tuesday, while Wednesday's action against McKendree will get under way at Noon.

The Gorillas are 9-10 on the season. Pitt State is scoring 5.6 runs per game and batting .283 as a team on the season. Pitt State pitchers have a 4.43 team ERA.

Senior designated player Alicia Lowrey leads the squad with a .377 batting average. She has seven doubles and 20 RBIs to date. Makenzie Goswick is hitting .357 with two home runs and 15 RBIs. Junior righthander Halle Brin has a 5-4 record with two saves and a 2.46 ERA in 14 appearances on the mound.

Maryville will bring a 14-7 record into Tuesday's twinbill against Pitt State. MU has a 10-10 record to date.
